Photoshop CS6 Improvements
*Sigh* …and it took my 5 years to upgrade from CS3… I really want some of these features!

Favourite Keyboard Shortcut At The Moment: Photoshop - “The Eastside”
Why “The Eastside”? Well, hold Ctrl + Opt + Cmd + Shift with one hand and you’ll see why.
What does it do? It directly selects layers by clicking on them with the Move Tool without “Auto-Select” switched on.
With the Move Tool (V) selected, hold Ctrl + Opt + Cmd and then click on the layer on the canvas that you want to select and watch as it is highlighted in the “Layers” palette.
It isn’t perfect, but provided the layer you’re targetting is clearly visible for the cursor, it should select the layer you’re after. You’ll find limitations when your file gets more complex but if you’re pretty good at grouping, you can generally lock or hide anything that is getting in your way. Sometimes easier said than done especially in initial stages.
Adding Shift into the mix allows you to add (or subtract) layers to your selection!
I find it very useful when I’m working on a website and I’m transitioning from that “messy comp stage” to something more refined. I find it too disruptive to layer and group perfectly from the start so this shortcut really helps me keep the process more fluid.
